Wisdom. Courage. Justice. Temperance. They work together. If one slips, the others start to tilt with it.
When wisdom fails:You can’t see what’s actually needed. Courage tilts because fear fills the gaps. Justice tilts because duties get unclear. Temperance tilts because impulses replace judgment.
When courage fails:You avoid what you know you should face. Wisdom tilts because fear distorts the truth. Justice tilts because you step back from responsibility. Temperance tilts because avoidance becomes habit.
When justice fails:You act unfairly or irresponsibly. Wisdom tilts because short-term thinking takes over. Courage tilts because comfort gets chosen over what’s right. Temperance tilts because impulse gets the final say.
When temperance fails:Impulses run the show. Wisdom tilts because clarity gets drowned out. Courage tilts because discomfort feels threatening. Justice tilts because duties get postponed or avoided.
The point is simple. You can act courageous or disciplined or calm in a moment. But true virtue needs all four working together.
